Drawing in pencil and black & brown wash. Folio (43 x 27 cm.), cut in two sheets (21 x 27; 22 x 27 cm.), 17^th century paper without watermark.

Large design drawing for two ornamental rosettes. The paint and ink stains, pinholes in the middle and the way the sheet was rudimentary cut in half signifies that the designs were thoroughly used by an artist in the studio.

Condition: Grimed and stained, small pinholes in the centre of the rosettes where the device for making the circles was inserted. Repaired tear through the centre of one sheet.
